Happy weekend all! Hope you're having a wonderful Saturday.
Do you have plans tomorrow for Father's Day? I'm having supper at my house... I'm looking forward to cooking and having everyone over. In preparation I organized the dining room today and made a couple updates.
I used to go all out on my seasonal decorating, but I find during the past couple years my changes are very simple... it usually consists of going out into the yard to see if there are any clippings I can bring inside and a project here and there.
Today I wandered outside with a basket and came in with some hydrangeas (I'm sure you are probably tired of seeing my hydrangeas!) and some lemon balm that needed to be cut back.
As usual, I put my clippings in some pitchers for the mantel. I also took 5 minutes to put together this little banner.
Recently I won a fun giveaway from Lynn at Shabby Story (such a beautiful blog), which included a piece of burlap ribbon printed with numbers. I cut the ribbon into four sections and simply strung twine through it.
A simple and summery addition to the dining room mantel.
(Thanks, Lynn!)
Wishing you a happy Father's Day weekend!
I never get tired of hydrangeas! Such a romantic flower. You take such lovely photographs!

For the record, I never tire f seeing anyone's hydrangeas since that and peonies are my faves. :) I love the simple touches, they are the best. And nothing beats a plain white pitcher. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteI love hydrangeas...dried and fresh.
ReplyDeleteI also love that garland that you just threw together. Your fireplace is simply beautiful.
Hope your family has a wonderful Father's Day.
Oh, I never tire of seeing pretty hydrangeas! Lucky you to have some bushes! ;)
ReplyDeleteThe garland is really cute too.
thanks for popping in to see me.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
How could anyone get tired of seeing hydrangeas! Right now our peonies are blooming and right behind them will be the hydrangeas....can't wait!
ReplyDeleteHow could anybody ever tire of hydrangeas?! Beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteIn our climate, we can grow hydrangeas but they need TLC and don't come in the profusion that some people have - which is why we look forward to going to our little house in Brittany every summer, where we can bask in the huge quantities that are just everywhere ;)) There is even a hydrangea in the local town and the bushes grow practically wild in the damp, lush climate - heaven!
your fireplace is so pretty with the hydrangeas and cute banner, andrea! have a great day!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are lovely and your fireplace looks cute all dressed up with the burlap banner! It makes me want to get out the white paint and brighten up my own fireplace!
ReplyDeleteI'll echo all those who vote for hydrangeas! They remind me of my grandma's house, as she always had some growing out front. I love seeing the small details in your home. Our style is quite different because we have such a different sort of house, but if I had a farmhouse (a long-time fantasy/dream of mine), I'd want it to look like yours. Happy day!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, I never tire of hydrangeas. :) Yours are beautiful, Andrea!
ReplyDeleteThose hydrangeas are stunning!

I won't ever get tired of seeing your beautiful hydrangeas! Your photos are always just spectacular. I love how simple and cute your banner is. You've got a lovely summertime livingroom!
ReplyDeleteLove the touches of color with the white. . .
ReplyDeleteThe banner looks so sweet and perfect for the mantle. I'd love it if you'd consider sharing this post at Shabbilicious Friday ~ http://shabbyartboutique.blogspot.com.au/2012/06/shabbilicious-friday-226.html
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I've ever written on a blog, as a coal miners daughter from way back, I wanted to tell you how happy it made me to see a wonderful young family bringing a lovely old home back. Homes either feel happy and loved or they don't, and yours seems to be very happy and a labor of love. My family all live in east Tennessee and there's no place more beautiful than the mountains. I love your site and look forward to seeing more.
