These Summer Days

Fall is right around the corner, but I'm still soaking in these days of Summer as much as I can.
The season has been filled to the brim and the days have gone by all too quickly.  There was so much we set out to accomplish... not everything was completed, but we enjoyed seeing progress at our little place.  I remind myself all the time, one thing at a time... one day at a time.
It seems like just yesterday I was admiring the daffodils and my baby girl was just starting to sit up on her own.  Now she's walking and into everything... I can barely keep up!
I remind myself of how important it is to count my blessings today.  A project can be for tomorrow, but today I have to keep my priorities where they should be.
Our garden has brought us all so much joy this year.  There are so many lessons in a garden.  We've also been enjoying fresh farm eggs this week from our neighbor and we all can't wait to start preparing for getting some chickens of our own.  I caught this sweet picture of Jillian when she didn't see me... waiting on the porch for the neighbor boy to bring the eggs.  It was hard to describe what I felt as I watched her from inside sit out there and talk to an imaginary friend.  She's growing up and I hardly know where the time has gone.
So often I'm reminded to enjoy these days as they will be gone in a blink of an eye.

So while I do feel excitement at the thought of cooler days, colorful leaves, and pumpkins...
I'm still relishing these sweet days of Summer.

Hope you are having a wonderful week!

  2. That photo of your daughter is so tender. What a special moment and memory. Is that a plastic egg carton? We have chickens and I've been wanting to find some. Where did you get them? It's so cute :)

  5. Oh my Gosh! Your close up of the sunflowers are gorgeous. I so enjoy your posts. You always take me back to reminisce my years when my children were young. Such busy times they were back then. I too was a mom that gardened, sewed dresses for my girls, put on little parties. I miss those times. I am hoping as my new twin grandbabies get bigger, that I will be able to relive alittle of those sweet days past through them. I can't believe how your girls have sprouted up just like your beautiful garden this year. I am taking in all your visual summer goodness, can't wait to see your fall posts. Thanks for sharing.

  8. You are so wise to enjoy the special moments of every single day! Your photographs are gorgeous ~ pictures of your girls just doing something naturel will be some of your most treasured. Mine are 10 and 14 so it's harder to take pictures without them noticing and then they have to do something goofy ~ I'm going to have to work on being more sneaky!!

  13. What a lovely, lovely post. How did my girls get to be 16 and 18. It seems like they were in elementary school yesterday. Our summer is almost over here too, although when school starts the heat continues for a good while.
