As soon as Rosetta turned two, it seemed she really felt like she was a big girl and among other things, she started wanting to sleep upstairs with her sister. I had actually been considering the idea of moving her upstairs when she was a little older, but after letting her nap one day in the playroom, it was all over... she wasn't having any sleeping downstairs in her crib!
So over the past couple weeks I've gradually been moving her upstairs and this weekend I spent quite a bit of time sorting through toys, organizing and beginning to turn the playroom into a bedroom. One thing we really needed was a new dresser for Rosetta... and by "new", I should actually say "old", as we wanted an antique (smile). I found this dresser a few weeks ago in an antique store on the square and still loved it when we went back this weekend, so home it came with us. The man that owns the store guessed it to be from the 20s.
Well, needless to say, the bedroom that sits next to ours seems awfully empty now, but I have to say that it is precious to see the love our two girls have for each other and how they want to be close to one another... and it's also fun to see our upstairs have turned from a dark, dreary space to an area so sweet and cheerful.
And now I have not one, but two, rooms to re-decorate... you know I'll dislike every minute of that! (*wink* *wink*)
Lovely dresser! What fun for your girls to be upstairs together!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great looking peice ! Have a wonderful start to your week !
ReplyDeleteOMG! That is EXACTLY what I've been searching for for two years. I can't find a decent one at all. I would have jumped on that one fast. Gorgeous!

Congrats Andrea! That's a big step. I remember crying and clapping when my baby boy wanted his big boy bed and to sleep with his brother. It makes them closer and I used to love to fall asleep hearing them giggling at night with flashlights under the covers. Your dresser is a great find. And OMGOSH how fun, 2 rooms to redecorate! Exciting projects. Good for you Andrea.

AWL.....this is a sweet post for sure.
ReplyDeleteAnd don't the little ones just grown entirely too fast? I sometimes cannot even believe how fast!
I love that dresser and mirror btw.
Andrea, that is just like my chest in my great room that I bought last year at our antique mall. I have been told it is called and East Lake. Mine didn't have the mirror with it, but I could see that there was one at one time. How sweet that they will be roomies.
ReplyDeleteI had to go look at your dresser again, Kim... it's gorgeous! Thanks for the info.
DeleteI love it. I dread the day my 18 month old daughter doesn't want to be in her crib and nursery anymore, but be a " big girl" like her 4 year old sister. It's very bittersweet for sure.
ReplyDeleteYou found a beautiful chest of drawers for Rosetta's room. I know she's going to LOVE being upstairs with her big sister. Can't wait to see your creativity in the two rooms you'll be redecorating. What fun you'll have!

Beautiful!!! Also, I notice your wood floors are painted white. How do you like it? I am close to painting ours white and just wonder how others like them.
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy. We painted our upstairs floors a soft gray... as far as the color and finish, I love it. If you're looking for a quick fix to old hardwood floors that are badly in need of some work, it's perfect. I used Benjamin Moore primer and paint, but I regret not using a topcoat to seal and protect against wear. I actually need to repaint in some areas that unfortunately have chipped and then I'll add a topcoat. I have that on my to-do list to work on soon! :-)
DeleteWhat a beautiful piece! That's so sweet that Rosetta wants to be near her big sis. I'm sure they're on their way to making lots of great memories together :)
ReplyDeleteThe dresser truly is the perfect piece! Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThat's a gorgeous piece! It's so nice to see people like you who cherish and respect antiques. The color of the wood is lovely. I cringe every time I see a beautiful old piece covered in white paint. And that's something I see a lot now on blogs. The contrast of your wood dresser and the light colored floors is perfect.

So lovely. I'm such a sucker for any piece with keyholes!
ReplyDeleteThat is gorgeous!! There is nothing like the old to bring on the new! It looks perfect.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous piece! But the plank walls and floors have my heart too. Love the contrast of the wood tones with the painted wood.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful piece! Love the patina!

How wonderful that your girls want to be together. They will have some special memories and some special relationship at least until the teen years "MAYBE". What a gorgeous piece by the way.

The dresser is just perfect with the painted floor....to do lists...ALWAYS have one of those going...inside and out! But I do enjoy it too! Fun to find the just right item for a room. LOVE the simple way you decorate. Have a happy week! Patty
