Hello there!
My brother and sister-in-law live nearby in an old farmhouse and this week I finally made it over to their place to see their completed upstairs room renovation. It is an absolutely stunning transformation and I had to share it with you.
BEFORE:
When they first bought their place, the upstairs was extremely outdated and what my sister-in-law and I referred to as a little "creepy". They stripped wallpaper, pulled off ceiling tiles, carpet, hundreds of nails and painted, painted, painted.
AFTER:
It's just another example to me of how transforming hard work and paint can be. This room is now light, cheerful and beautiful. I love that the original planks were painted white and the painted blue floor perfectly finishes this restful room.
I think they did an amazing job!
And a parting shot for you... my favorite thing about their 8 acres is the original stone fence on the property. I snapped a picture of it while I was there... this photo is a little bright, but do you see it? Every time I look at it I'm amazed that it is still standing after so many years.
And finally, the winner of the Ramsign giveaway is comment #3.
Congratulations, Gretchen! I'll be putting you into contact with Ramsign so they can send you one of their beautiful enamel signs.
Have a wonderful weekend!
So cool! I love the painted floors.
ReplyDeleteI'm just so amazed at the difference in this room. The amount of work was craziness - but WOW, so worth it. LOVE IT!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing change to that bedroom! I love that stone wall too. Isn't it surprising that those were once used as fences. Animals must have been much more tame then.

It's so neat how painting the hardwood floors make it look so old fashioned.
ReplyDeleteWe have hardwood floors under our carpet in our old house. I've seen them and for me it's not worth the money to get them sanded.
But...
This inspires me to paint them!
That room is absolutely charming. So much character. Bet they went to bed with sore backs and shoulders and hands and legs......
ReplyDeleteI love the painted white plank walls and ceilings! It looks like a true farmhouse bedroom. And that stacked stone wall! Can you imagine how much work that involved?!
ReplyDeleteThat is one gorgeous room!
ReplyDeleteAmazing change in that room! The stone fence is absolutely charming, too! ~ Maureen
ReplyDeleteThe transformation is just amazing. It's rustic yet very refreshing!
ReplyDeleteLove the transformation! There is so much work in updating old farmhouses...but worth every sore muscle! Love the stone fence too!
ReplyDeleteThat room is just absolutely beautiful! It looks so peaceful. I love that fence too. There is just too much to love in this post!

It's amazing what you find when you peel back a layer or two on an old farmhouse. They scored big with the original planking! I love how farmy this bedroom is and that stone wall is really something special too. Thanks so much for sharing this with us!
ReplyDeleteI love all that painted wood. What an amazing transformation. This is one of my favorite makeovers that I've seen in blogland. Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh, goodness, gracious...that is beautiful!! I love the simple beauty of painted planks. Thanks for sharing. {I'm just discovering your beautiful blog for the first time tonight, too. I'll be back!}
ReplyDeleteI think this room has so much character and a true farmhouse feel. The original walls with white paint--stunning! No wonder we all try to re-create this in our homes!
ReplyDelete-it's so beautiful.
I can't believe it's the same room! I love all of the painted wood. And that stone fence is amazing. It looks like they have a beautiful property!
ReplyDeleteI adore the simple beauty of that room! They have allowed the natural textures to shine instead of introducing alot of fabric patterns and color. GREAT job!!! :)

Swooning - what a fabulous room! Love the blue floors.
ReplyDeleteI can definitely relate to those before pics - but now they are a distant dream (or should I say nightmare)!
Your bro and his wife must be thrilled!
