I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend!
We've had some summer showers, and yesterday I actually got a nap, which was a pretty nice Mother's Day present, especially to the sound of rain. (smile)
We've done some work in our front yard this spring, including moving our driveway, removing our front shrub bed, and painting a little of the porch.
Our plan is low-maintenance, so my handy husband built four flower planters for our front porch. Other than a few hydrangea shrubs and the flowers in the planters, everything else will (eventually) be grass in the front yard.
I finally finished painting the planters and we went out and bought soil and annuals. I think they turned out to be such a pretty addition to our porch and I can't wait for the flowers to grow and fill in.
We have some sod to lay in the front and a tiny bit more painting and then I think we are done with our outdoor improvements (for this year anyway)!
After the rain it seemed like everything in the garden grew at least a few inches and our hydrangea bush by the front porch is decked out in blooms.
I just love the variety in color.
It's so challenging to get a picture where both girls are smiling! |
Such a nice relaxing weekend... maybe a little too relaxing since all I accomplished on my to-do list was planting some flowers!
I am so thankful for my little family and feel so blessed to be the mother of two beautiful, sweet, healthy girls. I always knew I wanted to have children, but could never have imagined how much joy they would bring!
Did you do anything special for Mother's Day or did you just enjoy time with your family?
We also spent the weekend at the nursery purchasing annuals and boxwoods for our front porch. Your new planters look wonderful! Didn't get a chance to plant everything yet because the rain has now come to our area so I've been enjoying listening to it all day. (Your girls are just beautiful!)
ReplyDeleteFlower boxes are always such a nice addition to any space. Your pic of you and your girls is just so precious!
DeleteYour daughters are beautiful just like their Mom! Your porch is look great too. I planted some Lavender and Rosemary over the weekend.

You and your girls are just gorgeous!! So glad you had as relaxing mother's day. We mom's deserve that little rest and relaxation on occasion, don't we? Love the boxes your hubby made and LOVE the hydrangeas. You will have to dry some and use them inside. I love dried hydrangeas.

I love your planters! Do you have any basic directions on how you built them (size, type of wood, etc)? And did you put the dirt directly into the planters or did you line them first and if so, what did you line them with?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Katherine :)
Hi Katherine - Thank you so much! I don't have any directions on my blog, but they were built out of pressure treated pine and then painted. We painted the inside with a special paint (I can't recall what it was, sorry!) and then lined with weed fabric. So far they've held up pretty well!
