After having gone so long without, the steady rain we've had the past couple days has been wonderful.
Yesterday when the rain let up briefly, I ran outside with the girls to pick the veggies that were waiting.
As I opened the door and breathed in the scent of rain, all I could think was sweet rain.
I only made it to the squash before it started coming down steady again... but I was so happy to see the drops on everything. We needed it so badly and the grass already looks greener around us.
Now whose idea was it to plant enough tomato plants to have plenty to can anyway?
(smile)
Have a wonderful weekend!
I need a cute little basket to harvest with like that! You're a bit ahead of us in the ripening of your veggies though. They look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhere do you live in the South? I'm in North Central Arkansas and we still haven't had any rain except one little sprinkle last week that dried up when it hit the ground! LOL! I'm so glad someone got rain! Your veggies look wonderful and yes, get ready because when those tomatoes start coming in you will be canning for days! LOL! I raised 4 chidren and canned my own each year. It was messy and by the time I was done my hands were good and chapped from the acid and the constant washing but when it was all done and those jars were all sitting there...it was SO worth it and knowing I was feeding my family good, pure food was satisfaction enough. You go girl!
ReplyDeleteHey girl. I am so thankful for the rain as well. It was a glorious thing to watch it fall yesterday.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I waited for a break in the rain yesterday to check for eggs and pull a few things from the garden. My tomatoes are still green and I am still waiting!!
What an abundant basket of veggies and looks so delicious!! No rain here in California, it has been a steady degree of 100 and above :( Oh well, the rain will be here before I know it! Have a lovely weekend, Xo, Ashley
ReplyDeletewe are very thankful for the rain here in GA too! I love your veggie basket:)
ReplyDeleteEnjoying the bounty already? Your so lucky to have rain. I would hate to show you our garden here in the midwest. Very sad. It poured this afternoon for a short while but only here and there. Our area was a miss and still remains bone dry. My potted flowers and herbs are surviving though, by means of tender hand watering and periods of time purposely put in the shade. Love your basket too.
ReplyDeleteWhen you have enough rain-please send some our way, will you? xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI always love a day of rain after a bout of hot muggy weather. You are quite the gardener!
ReplyDeleteyour garden looks like it's doing great--we haven't had any rain forever! have a great sunday, andrea:)
ReplyDeleteWe have had far too little rain around here this summer too. So you photos are so refreshing! Your garden is doing wonderful! I guess that is a good thing, even though you've got a little work ahead of you...
ReplyDeleteLynn
