One sunny afternoon this past week I removed the pumpkins from our porch and took down the fall wreath on our door. (How is it possible December is already here?) The girls ran around outside while I scattered my wintery elements on the back picnic table and attempted to do a little winter decorating.
Pine cones have become one of my favorite things to use this year... they look beautiful indoors and out.
I gathered more cypress from our back yard and put together these wreaths with floral wire in under half an hour. Wreaths are certainly not my forte and these are certainly not perfect, but I love the combination of fresh greenery, pine cones and hickory nuts. The larger pine cones come from here, but we collected the small ones over Thanksgiving at my in-laws.
Note: Don't look too closely at the windows... I'm pretty sure I see little handprints!
I made this runner in the spring and it had since been moved to my fabric pile. I was happy to dig it back out and thought it added a little Christmas color to the table on our porch.
During the week the girls and I are usually out in the back, but on a weekend you will often find us all swinging or rocking in the front, especially on a beautiful Sunday afternoon like today.
Happy December, friends!

ReplyDeleteSimple and pretty. Love the cypress wreath.
ReplyDeleteMMM.. what rustic simplicity. I luv it... But then, I have a soft spot for pine-cones :-)
ReplyDeleteCheers, Gee
Lovely, the chairs by the table are great and I love the runner, it does add the Christmas look on the porch!
ReplyDeleteI love your porch!
ReplyDeleteAndrea, love the simplicity of your cypress wreath, and your runner adds a touch of Christmas red on your porch. I could spend hours in your swing. We had one here but removed it to have space for a table on our porch.
ReplyDeleteLove your porch !! Have a great start to your week!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour porch is just right! I love looking at it. I hope your December with your family is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI love your pretty decorating! The wreaths turned out beautiful! I wish I could come up with something like those for above my fireplace. I'm going for a natural look this year with lots of green :)
ReplyDeleteYour wreaths are simple and sweet. I thought maybe you took roping to make them, but you are so thrifty using your own yard to hunt up greens. I just love your porch.
ReplyDeleteHi Andrea!
ReplyDeleteI love to decorate with pine cones and lots of green as they give a natural and earthy look. Love your simple, yet beautiful cypress wreath! Thank you for your sweet words on my blog.
Wishing you an inspiring week!
This is beautiful. Love the wreaths and pinecones.
ReplyDeleteSimple and sweet. I do love the looks of real greenery on the front of the house, but after 8 years of brown wreaths, I finally gave in and bought artificial wreaths. Our house faces south, and even in northern MN, I can't keep a wreath green the whole season. Maybe pine cone wreaths are in order for next year!
ReplyDeleteYour porch looks like a lovely place to while away a sunny afternoon.
Love the look of your porch...very welcoming.
ReplyDeleteFarmhouse hugs,

So beautiful...I am envious that you are able to "pluck" the cypress from your yard....The runner is perfect!!..
ReplyDeleteFavorite things: the wood bin by the door, the wire basket and of course the wreaths. It's simple but so festive and welcoming. If you brought the cypress wreaths inside would they last for a while? I'd love some on my kitchen window. Have a really good week...it's going so fast!
ReplyDeleteLove the small touches of red with all the green and white. And I know what you mean about time sneaking up. Just tossed the pumpkin from our front porch yesterday!
ReplyDeleteLovely, It is simple, festive, natural, and welcoming. Love the runner!
ReplyDelete(no little handprints on my windows, but nose prints in abundance!)
Just charming and homespun...this says pure and simple "Christmas". :) Just lovely.
ReplyDeleteVery simple and classic I love the bistro chair.

So beautiful! Your porch speaks simple winter beauty!
ReplyDeleteI love your front porch, so welcoming and I love the simple touches you gave it. Just perfect! Makes me want to sit in a rocker with a blanket and some hot chocolate. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful and I love porch living too! I love that you made your natural wreath. I must do that next time. This year I bought a fresh one from Costco for our front door. Yours may not be perfect, but that adds to the charm. I am enjoying your new header also.
ReplyDeleteI love the wreath you made! What a welcoming front porch.
ReplyDeleteClaudia
Your porch looks amazing. I like the pinecones this year too!
ReplyDeleteSo simple and elegant! Your photos are gorgeous. Pinecones really add a natural, rustic feel to any decor. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteleslie
very nice, and I am starting to wonder if our weather is going to start to mimic yours or ever truly turn cold as it SHOULD be doing in my northern location !!
ReplyDeleteYour porch is beautiful! Can you believe how warm it is?
ReplyDeleteLooks so nice - and your wreath is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAndrea, I just love your porch! It's all beautiful, understated, and elegant as always! I really like the wreath. I decorate with pinecones year round. I don't really know why, I just love them I guess. :) I would really like to have a porch swing like yours. It must be so nice to have. Have a lovely day! ~ Jamie
ReplyDeleteI want to live in your house! It's so pretty and I love the elegant simplicity of it all. I love the uncluttered look of your porch and the imperfect wreath is ... well, perfect!
ReplyDeleteIts so simply beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAndrea,

Unquestionably believe that which you stated. Your favorite reason seemed to
ReplyDeletebe on the web the simplest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I certainly get annoyed while people
consider worries that they plainly do not know about.
You managed to hit the nail upon the top as well as defined out the whole thing without having side effect , people
can take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thanks

Your porch is so welcoming and simply done. Love the wreath, the table and cloth, the wooden box. And you have a roof! I don't have a roof over our front porch and sure wish I did. Merry Christmas!
