Stockings in the Living Room

I know it's strange to hear from me so soon... but I had to show you these adorable stockings my mom made for me.  She is such a talented seamstress... my sewing skills are limited to pretty much just curtains and pillows.  She raided my leftover fabric pile and hers to put these together for no cost.

Admittedly, our living room is still under construction, so I was pretty excited to hang them and add a little holiday cheer to the fireplace.  I just love them.

Today Kelly from Eclectically Vintage is featuring our home... she is so sweet and has a gorgeous 100-year-old house that is decorated so beautifully and uniquely with many vintage items.  If you haven't seen it yet, be sure to check out her holiday home tour here

Tomorrow I will be back with some pictures of our kitchen decorated for the holidays and a guest post at my friend Jen's.  I know... three days in a row is a record... I hope you aren't too tired of me!

P.S.  I noticed last night that Country Living has photos up of the award luncheon... you can view them here. And there's still time to enter the soap giveaway if you missed it here

  1. Stockings made by moms are the best. My mom gave me a stocking for Christmas one year, that she made, and it was filled with wool socks, Harry Connick Jr and Natalie Merchant cds, and some candy. I cried like a baby. She has since made two others for my kids. Awesomeness.

    Lovely on the fireplace.

  2. So lovely! Stockings are one of the main reason I would like a mantel.:) Thank you for posting cozy things. That is one of my most favorite words in the dictionary.

  4. Very pretty. I love the simple design. How sweet they're made by your mom. How did you hang them? I am having trouble finding a way to hang mine on a new mantel without having to buy expensive stocking hangers.

    1. Thank you so much. I know this sounds terrible but every year I just hang our stockings in the living room with thumbtacks. I use the same tiny holes and I don't think they are hardly visible the rest of the year. :-)

    2. Thanks so much for responding!! I think I am going to attach the 3MM plastic hooks on the top of my mantel and hide them with greenery! LOVE your blog and your home but hadn't ever commented. It means a lot for you to respond!! :) ~Kate

  6. I love the shape of the stockings--those long, skinny feet. :-) Just wrote about how I'd love to have some simple, matching stockings--but our kids are very attached to their rather garish, unmatching ones. I know someday, when I'm able to have the pretty ones, I will be sad that I no longer have kids in the household. So, unmatched it is!

  7. What fun! Our stockings are hung on the bookcase with care. Our fireplace is our main heat source, so no stockings there!
Thanks for sharing-way to go Mom!
