After anticipating this week for months now, we took some time to get away and vacation just the four of us. We were away for eight days - a couple days with good friends and then the rest of the time spent at the beach, where we rented a cabin.
We stayed at a state park in Florida, and the natural landscape was so beautiful. That's the ocean in the background, with wild magnolias and other greenery growing on the other side of tall sand dunes.
(Cutest post office ever!)
One of our favorite things about this beach area was that it was so bike friendly with bike paths everywhere, even alongside roads. I don't think there was one place you couldn't bike to, and while we enjoyed biking around the park, there was nothing better than our ride to the ice cream shop down the road (smile).
But as nice as our vacation was, there really is no place like home and we were so happy to be back!
I hope you had a nice week too!

ReplyDeleteHi Peggy - yes, we stayed at Grayton Beach, FL. The photos of the post office and bike were in Seaside, a neighboring beach just down the road.
DeleteLooks like the best holiday ever! The ocean is such a beautiful sea-green and the sand almost white. Beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteAgain, wonderful pictures and I can just feel the sun and breeze! I'm with Peggy Lynn - would you mind sharing where this was? I'm thinking on the Gulf side, but not sure. Many thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi Betty - yes, on the Gulf! We stayed at Grayton Beach, but the photo of the post office and bike were in Seaside. Our first time staying at this particular beach, but we do vacation near the Gulf every year and love it!

Thank you so much, Patty! I'll do a magazine giveaway sometime this week. :-)
DeleteGlad your family got away~ great memories for the little ones. Welcome home.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing this was Seaside, Florida, because of the picture you posted of the quaint post office. This town is on my bucket list. What were the cabins like? How fun to be in a beach town, bike ride and just relax. Your girls must have loved it. Your post is bringing back many memories of our camping trips to Mackinaw in Michigan and Door County, Wisconsin when our children were small. Here in the Midwest, they are wonderful places to vacation and have that waterside fun and serenity too. Always enjoy your shares Andrea.

Hi Debra - yes, the post office is in Seaside! We actually stayed at Grayton Beach, but Seaside is just down the road. The area is very beautiful as a lot of the land is preserved. We stayed at a cabin at the park, which was very basic but provided everything we needed. We did get a little cabin fever one day when it poured rain the entire day! ;-) The beach was absolutely amazing though - the cabin area is gated and there are only 30 cabins so I never saw more than 6 families or so on the beach at one time. Sometimes we were the only ones! We think we want to vacation in this area again next year (especially with the biking!), but I may try to find something a little more cozy/comfortable to stay in, as long as the beach area is as uncrowded as the park was. :-) I hope you get to visit one day!
DeleteSo sweet… I too guess Seaside. Can you share where you got the cute suits ?
ReplyDeleteTarget!

ReplyDeleteHope you are having a wonderful time, Laura!
DeleteI recognize that post office :) My parents live very close to this area and we visit quite often. Nothing like the beach for a family getaway!
ReplyDeleteWe love this area, too. This will be the first year we are doing something different and I already miss our beach week! I have wanted to check out the cabins you stayed in. I heard they were clean and nice, and the ocean is incredible! Glad to hear they were nice and you enjoyed your week.
ReplyDeleteI go to the Sea to breathe...

ReplyDeleteSuch pretty photos. I can't wait to get to the beach this summer. Makes dealing with the heat and humidity of New York summers so much easier to deal with!! : ) Have a beautiful weekend!!

We just returned from Florida, too. Even though it's a bit warmer in May/June, I enjoy going then as the crowds are down. We go to the east coast of Florida, but I'm liking the looks of the area you visited!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful, low key spot for a vacation. Perfect for small children. Thanks for sharing.
