Happy Thursday!
The playroom was our last stop upstairs... it only received a couple updates but I thought I'd go ahead and share a few photos. Believe it or not, this is one room I don't have a scary "before" picture to share!
The walls in this room were already painted white when we moved in, but the floors were in a sad state, like the rest of the upstairs. We continued the same paint color in here as the office/schoolroom for an easy, bright fix. I cannot believe how much a painted floor can transform a room!
The playroom is one of two bedrooms located upstairs. The girls spend so much time here and it's always the first place the kids run whenever we have company. I love that the majority of the mess stays out of view since it's tucked away... however, we do still have a toy box downstairs and I assure you by the time evening comes it looks like a small tornado has gone through the entire house (smile).
We also have an extra twin bed in this room. If we have guests that need more than one room, I'll move Jillian into this twin bed so they can use her bedroom too.
This is the other small update in this room... our neighbor recently asked if we would like this 1930's iron hospital bed frame. Umm, that would be a yes! My husband had to do some minor welding on it to accommodate the larger mattress, so I was pretty excited to finally put it together this week.
Someday I'd like to change out the bedding and perhaps paint the bed frame, but for now this works.
With all the work we've done around our house, I have not spent too much time decorating in here. For the most part the walls are bare, but we do have some ideas for shelving sometime... you know, in our spare time (ha)! It is not unusual for me to leave a wall bare though until I find exactly the right thing.
Still, the bright colorful toys and painted floor make it such a cheerful place to be.
The door leading into the playroom is the original. We wish many times the previous owners had left the original doors downstairs as well, but I'm glad we still have a couple with us.
To be honest, this room is often cluttered and simply a mess, but it's a sweet mess filled with precious girls. I wouldn't change it for the world!
P.S. I had no part of this little tea table... I have a little girl who obviously watches her mommy closely and already loves to put a table setting together! (smile)
Hope you have a great weekend. We have plans to go to the pumpkin patch on Saturday and let's just say I'm as excited as Jillian!

Oh my gosh! Every post of yours is a drool. You are such a great Mommy and Daddy! Look at the beautiful smile on your daughter's face. The room is ADORABLE!! You always take me back to my young Mommy Days. Thanks. I savor those memories of all the things I did for and with my little four..They are now 30, 28, 24, and 21. Great kids. Yours will be too.
ReplyDeleteAnother adorable room. How nice to be given that wonderful old bed. Sounds like your husband can fix things like mine. Nice to have a handy man.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute room and it looks so big too! I would love to have a place like that in my house for my daughter to play :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious playroom!! Looks like a room where many hours of fun happen!!

Oh, I love the pumpkin patch! One of the best places to take photos of children. I am enamored of your first photo in this post. ENAMORED. This looks like such a cozy place for your girls to play.

This room is precious just like the rest of your home! I think a playroom is a great thing to have for kids!! I love the pink kitchen set!
ReplyDeleteThe first thing that caught my eye was the great iron bed and then I was entranced by the huge, sunny windows. What a wonderful playroom! ~ Maureen
ReplyDeleteWhat a charming and perfect playroom! I also like how bright and cheery it is. I love the quilt on the bed! That is one of my favorite prints, I used the same one for my daughters bed when she first transitioned to a big girl bed. Boy, do I understand the tornado effect with toys. Sometimes you feel like the tornado follows as you clean! :)
ReplyDeleteIt is perfect...as usual. Those floors are beautiful too. I know the kids enjoy that room...always nice to have a place just for them.
ReplyDeleteThis is a little girl's dream play room with all the fun girly things to play with. Such a bright cheery spot you've created for your little darlings. SO sweet!

This is so sweet, as you little Jillian is! I wish my kids playroom looked as neat as your's. It is one room that I have had to give up on.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beatiful place to grow up! A lucky girl!!!

We have the same doors! Love the room. Makes me want to have a tea party there!
ReplyDeletebreathe taking beautiful.....
ReplyDeleteHi Andrea, I would like to apologize for the late response to your nice words on my blog. Thank you for your visit and kindness. You have such an inspiring home and the playroom you have created is a dream to every little child. I love your stile, the delicacy and the simplicity of it. I am your new follower.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the season!
If I was ever lucky enough to renovate a house the right way I would install doors like yours...with 5 panels. I love them. :o) This room is a delight. So light and fresh and feminine. My kids had a room we called the toy room. My daughter couldn't say toy at first and it came out "the toe room." To this day we still refer to toys as toes. Enjoy the pumpkin patch!
ReplyDeleteWhat a charming playroom!! Love the old iron bed.

I'm loving your painted floors upstairs and this play room is just so sweet! I'll be the girls spend many happy hours there. That door is a real treasure too. We replaced all our doors upstairs with ones very similar to yours and stained them dark like that. Looks like we made a good choice to keep it authentic. This room is just as wonderful and the rest of your house!

love,love,love...I'm your biggest fan xo
ReplyDeleteOf course everything in the room is so sweet--that pink kitchen!--but I'm fixating on your door. I love the contrast of that original dark door with all the girly lightness in this room. And I know just what you mean about wishing you had the original doors. Every single interior door was changed in our house. They are all a stock, builder-grade door from the 90s. I know it must have cost someone a small fortune to swap them all out, so I wish I could appreciate them...but I don't. Love how I get so much from seeing your home, even though it's so different from mine.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty room! I'm going to take a look around your blog now :)
ReplyDeleteYou have one of my very favorite blogs. Everything you do is so gorgeous. Love the playroom and what an adorable picture of your daughter at tea time...precious!
ReplyDeleteThose white painted floors are inspiring! Also love the metal box holding boxes on the floor. Thanks, Angela @ Mrs. White Twig & Tea
ReplyDeleteAndrea, you never cease to amaze me with your photos of your beautiful home. When I see your pictures, I think of two words my mom always says...simply beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI think I am going to change the name of your blog to..."Simply Beautiful at Keeping it Cozy"
Such a fan of the painted floors and paneled ceiling. It's such a soft, sweet room. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWOW the play room looks great!! You never cease to amaze me either. Jilly is so precious having a tea party with her baby. She's a good mommy too!! Please tell her for me :) xoxo
ReplyDeleteI have spent some time visiting your home and it is just darling. I love all of the changes you have made and the hard work you have put into making the house your home. I too have a lot of white in my home and I appreciate all of your white touches. Even though it is a newer home and only 14 years old, we built it to look older and here and there I try to add touches that add to the age, I love your school house lights and I can't wait to show my husband.
ReplyDeleteNew follower :-) Saw you n Craftberry Bush and popped on over. Just toured your home... luvly!! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteCheers, Gee
pop on over and see me at my place...

What a beautiful room for your daughters to play....she looks so happy having "tea" with her "special friend"....A mess in the room, means the kids are being creative!!...well, that was always my son's excuse...but true!
ReplyDeleteThis is the most awesome little playroom ever. It is sweet, feminine and bright and cheery. Perfection!
ReplyDeleteI am really contemplating painting the floors upstairs (3 bedrooms & hallway) they are SO rough looking and I think it would change the look and clean it up-I love the look of this floor! I am wondering what product(s) you used and how are they holding up? thanks! Mel
ReplyDeleteAwe!! I'm new to your blog and love it!! I love your little girl's playroom! It's so bright and happy! Plus, I love that shabby chic bedspread! I want!
