Happy November! I wanted to pop in today to tell you about a really delicious recipe. Before we all went trick-or-treating, my family came over for supper. While I was preparing the meal, I decided that I also wanted to make an easy dessert that could be eaten quickly, but I didn't have much in my fridge or pantry. Then I recalled this recipe from The Pioneer Woman (we all know you can't go wrong with a recipe of hers).
I'm sorry that this is the best photo I have... I didn't think to take photos while I was preparing the dessert and by this morning it was already more than half eaten (smile). But basically it involves just a few ingredients that likely you would already have on hand and then some preserves. Her recipe calls for strawberry, but I used apricot.
The recipe title is kind of deceiving, because it actually sounds healthy, but really these are just gooey, buttery deliciousness.
You can find the recipe here.
This photo is to show you what a "photo shoot" looks like at our house. While I was trying to take a photo of a bar, Rosetta was climbing up on the chairs with her spoon trying to get a taste... let's just say I have more photos with her hand and spoon than without (smile). It didn't take us any time at all to gobble up our "prop".
P.S. Speaking of trick-or-treating, we had a great time tromping through the leaves on a cold fall evening. Here we are as we set out after enjoying our apricot oatmeal bars...
Love an easy recipe. These look good. Well what was left of them. lol Your little one has the same hair color and blue eyes like my granddaughter, Leila.
ReplyDeleteThose look great! !! Glad trick or treating went well! !!
ReplyDeleteAndrea- I am SOOO going to make these this week. I love to have something quick and easy for the kids (big and little kids) to grab. Thanks so much- Your family is adorable!!! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteThats got to be the sweetest picture of my precious grand-daughter that I've seen!!! She is so darling - I love her to pieces! xoxo ~ Mom ~
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures. Your oatmeal bars are tempting. I just might have to try those out one cold day next week :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Too cute. Love Rosetta and the crumbs. It never changes, my food photos are always taken frantically as my husband and big kids are trying to eat what I am trying to photograph. I guess that's why the Pioneer Woman has that Lodge that she does her cooking at. :)
ReplyDeleteI love that you substituted the strawberry for apricot...great choice...Rosetta is certainly a testament to how delicious it was!! Love the pic of your family off to go Trick or Treating...just precious!!!...
ReplyDeleteThat last picture gave me a lump in my throat. What a lovely memory. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteYum! I actually just purchased the Pioneer Woman's cookbooks as a present for my daughter this Christmas. I'll have to tell her to be sure to make these. I'm sure I'll be eating my share. :)
ReplyDeleteThe dessert looks yummy, but seems fitting that you didn't get many photos as they were just backdrop to the real star--a wonderful evening with your family. Like Ann, I loved the last photo. (Dads with their girls always get me.) Think I might try your recipe and see what happens if I substitute tapioca flour to make it gluten-free. Thanks for pointing us to it.
ReplyDeletePrecious photo of your family going "Trick or Treat". Love your home and your writing. You are very blessed to appreciate what you have.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Sharon D.
First off, I love the last picture of your family dressed up. Your little girl in that long blue dress is precious! I love the Pioneer Woman's recipes, and this one looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Leslie
ALL of your photos are lovely but I have to say when you include ones of the girls I end up leaving your blog with a smile ....they are so darn cute :)
ReplyDeleteJust enjoyed getting caught up again on your latest posts. Your little girls are just darling! Enjoyed seeing the porch pictures--that blue painted ceiling reminded me of Luanne's. She chose to keep it blue too. I love seeing what others do to their houses!
ReplyDeleteMy mama used to make something similar that had mincemeat in the center. I now have to make it for the holidays since it's a family tradition. :)
ReplyDeleteMmm, those bars look delicious. And like everyone else, especially love the last photo. Very touching and sweet. :-)
ReplyDeleteJust read your story of how you found your house and enjoyed it so much. No wonder you fell in love with your little town. And treasure those little helpers of yours; they grow up so quickly. I also went to your mother's blog and will look forward to seeing the progress of the house.
ReplyDeleteI love anything with oats and with simple ingredients. These look really yummy.
ReplyDeleteI haven't made oatmeal bars in years! Until I saw the pictures of yours, I'd completely forgotten about those delicious bars! Your daughter certainly looks like she enjoyed hers. The photo of the girls and your husband heading out to trick or treat is so sweet. :)
ReplyDeleteI love anything with apricot. They look scrumptious. No surprise your delicious desserts vanish quickly. Oh, look at little Rosetta. So cute.
ReplyDeleteMy oven is broken and I'm really sad about it ...:( this looks sooo yumm...have a great week..xo
