Catching Up

I hope you had a wonderful Easter!

We've been quite busy during the past couple weeks with projects, more projects and of course our day to day routines.  The trees are all budding now and it's just beautiful... I've found myself running outside in between rain (and snow) showers to bring in some of the blossoms to enjoy.

One of the things about blogging that I am most thankful for is that it has taught me to stop and take in the beauty of the smallest things.  Just two years ago I know I would have been too preoccupied to spend more than a fleeting moment observing the first blossoms of a new season.  Now I find myself not only noticing, but looking...

With a little fresh water, the buds bloom practically overnight and stay beautiful for at least a week.

Our chicken house now is in its final stages and while it rained over the weekend, Justus installed new flooring in our kitchen (so exciting).

My favorite part of the chicken house so far is the huge door Justus built.  It has certainly entertained the girls while I spend a little time here and there working on getting it all painted!

Saturday while we were working outside, I commented to Justus how grateful I was to be outside... I didn't hear noise from the cars driving down the road... all I could hear was the melody of the birds singing and my heart felt full with thankfulness as I took in the beauty of all the spring blooms and our two darling girls chasing each other around the yard.

I'm sorry I don't have anything special to share today, but I thought it was about time I got back to my blog after a little unplanned break (smile).  I've missed talking to you all!  I hope you have a great week.

  4. Beautiful blossoms. I think winter can be very hard on us and we decide what our blossom will look like in the spring by how we handle the winter challenges. You have obviously channelled all your winter challenges into a beautiful display of flowers.

  7. Girl, that door is fabulous! I so agree about appreciating the little things more now that I am blogging. Details are much more important to me now. My family laughed at how many photos I took before, during and after of our Easter table.

  9. I think your post is very special! So nice to share the things you're grateful for. I agree with you about blogging -- it has changed me in ways I didn't expect. I've tried recipes I'd wanted to try for a long time, and even a few crafts (I'm not crafty at all). And I enjoy the photography part of it so much. I always admire your photographs too -- they're lovely!

I can't wait to see your chicken coop and its inhabitants soon.

  10. It is amazing how we can go outside in the springtime and soak up the fresh air. I love to listen to the birds chirp and soak up the sunshine. Your right, having a blog does make you look at things differently.

  11. Writing has always been a way to take me deeper into experience, and with blogging, photography has added a new element to that. A camera has helped me see differently, and writing helps me think deeply. I told Cane just this week that I knew I was spending for too long on our most recent post, but that it was therapy for me. :-)

Love your blossoms. We've had an explosion of them in the last week, and they are so beautiful. I've noticed that I'm waking to birdsong, now, too. Isn't spring wonderful?

  20. No spring here yet in Western Pa BUT! I have a flower garden nonetheless...stop over and see my post today...about a vintage Grandmothers Flower Garden Quilt / so exited about it :)

So ....This chicken coop does not look like a coop nor even a chicken house !

From the size of the door it appears as if it is going to be a chicken mansion!

The little princess looks ready to chase peeps! :)

  21. I think you DO have something special to share :):) I love the sweet buds and flowers you brought in and the chicken house looks like so much fun. My girlfriend has chickens and they produce unbelievable eggs. They also have unique personalities. I did a post on her farm house a while back and shared the chicken coop and some of her farm animals.. so much fun!

  22. Breaks are often a good thing, but I for one am happy to have you back to blogging. I adore your spring blooms. I tell myself each spring to plan something that I can use to force blooms during early spring but it never seems to happen. Maybe this will be my year. Your photos are beautiful by the way.
