Our Christmas Day

How was your Christmas?  Ours was really wonderful.  Today it was just the girls and I... Justus had to go back to work, everyone has left, scraps of wrapping paper and food crumbs have all been picked up.  It's cold, rainy, and windy outside and the house has felt quiet and a little lonely.

When Jillian woke up from her nap this afternoon, she climbed in my lap (which doesn't happen nearly as often these days as she is growing up so fast), scrunched up her nose, and said, "I just wish Christmas day didn't have to pass."

Then we sat together and talked about all the things we enjoyed so much.  It really was a wonderful day.

So today I've just been savoring the memories of family, laughter and love (and eating way too much leftover cake).

(One of my favorite images from the day.)

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas day filled with joy!

  9. It's always much too quiet for me after our family leaves! But things settle down quickly enough and you'll enjoy the quiet with your girls. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

  13. What a wonderful Chrismas celebration you all had! I am so glad. We also had a day full of wonder and joy that was also peaceful and relaxing. It is somewhat sad that Christmas Day can not last more than just a day, but I decided this year that Christmas really does go on in our hearts every day of the year so that gives me much joy. Many blessing to you and your beautiful family this last few days of 2012 and in the New Year.

  14. The girls are oh so cute. Did they know you had your camera in hand and were taking their picture? Your home looked lovely as usual and the pictures reveal a very Merry Christmas. It went too fast here. We all stayed in our PJ's most of Christmas day, as we celebrated Christmas eve this year. It was all so relaxing and cozy. Blessings to you and your family for a Happy and Healthy New Year ahead.

  15. So glad you had a happy time with your family, Andrea. I remember feeling much like Jillian when I was a little girl--I just loved those days with cousins and grandparents and aunts and uncles. She's so fortunate that you're giving her those memories. Wishing you a wonderful new year--
