Adding to a Collection

Hi all!  It's hard to believe another weekend is at its end.

My neighbor gave me this peony blossom yesterday.  Isn't it beautiful?  And so fragrant... one blossom alone perfumes an entire room.

This weekend was beautiful and I spent as much time as I could outside weeding the garden and doing some sprucing up.  But Saturday morning my mom and I were able to sneak away with the girls for a couple hours.  We went into town to the square and walked around some antique stores and had lunch together.  It was such fun.

We saw some great things but for the most part I was able to resist.

However, the second I found this half-gallon size canning jar for $7, I knew it was coming home with me.  It's funny how collections sometimes start... I never planned on collecting Ball blue jars, but somehow I'm always on the lookout for more.

What did you do this weekend?

  1. The weekend went way too fast. I had some successes and some failures with projects I tried. Live and learn.

Blue mason jars are just the prettiest ever.

  2. Great find! I know what you mean by not planning on collecting something. I've avoided the blue bell jar craze so far but the last few weeks I've been really wanting to get some--especially with the great lid like yours.

  3. I spent one whole summer collecting over 100 blue jars in 3 sizes for our youngest daughter's wedding! I've been storing the 8 cases of them in our garage ever since and finally divied them up between me and our 2 daughters. I only kept a half dozen, but the big jars are my favorite.

  4. Sounds like a perfect Saturday afternoon with the girls! I went to two antique shops in a neighboring small town with my daughter but struck out. They were both still closed for the winter. So we ended up taking a few pictures of the cool old rusted stuff outside. I'm sure we never would have thought to get those shots if the shop had been open. Have a great week!

  9. Great find, Great Price! Have a few but not one that size. What a lovely day you had. Adore your blog and your home is beautiful. Love the mix of stained beadboard walls and floors with the white. Your husband and you have worked hard. Enjoying the peony, even though I can't smell its fragrance. Looking forward to my bushes blooming. Rather cool here in Illinois right now, so will enjoy your post all the more til mine are ready.
