A Picnic Table

Can you guess what I am excited to share tonight?

(I know, the food is probably throwing you off.)

Well, this is a project that has been sitting around since March.  And one I am so excited to have finished so we can ENJOY it!

BEFORE:

We've been without a picnic table for about a year now.  So for my husband's birthday this year my brother and sister-in-law brought over this old table that came with their old farmhouse and a new fancy umbrella.  We were thrilled to have a new picnic table, but didn't have a chance to work on it until last week.

I had to dig deep for a "before" picture and this is all I could find.  You can see the table was old and needed some TLC, but it was all wood and sturdy as could be.

So, handy hubby built some bunches around the table and replaced a rotting board on the table top.  I couldn't decide whether to paint the table red or green (to match our roof), but when I saw "Farm Red" paint on clearance at Tractor Supply, that made the decision easy.  (smile)

(And, if you'd read my blog for a while, you have to know I was happy to be painting something that wasn't bead board and wasn't white - ha!)

AFTER:

I love to eat outside so I really am excited to have this project finished!  And the "new" picnic table seems to fit our back deck just perfect.

You can see here that the table is actually pretty red.

Just an old, simple table... perfect for enjoying summer evenings together.

Hope you are having a great week so far.  Our little Rosy turns 1 tomorrow!

  4. What a fun picnic table. Your husband is so handy. Love the red too. Red is my accent color as well for our outside accents. Your flowers are so pretty. The zinnas and vintage table cloth are so country simple. You have such a good eye for your photos. I see many a hours being spent by your girls at that adorable table, whether it be just lunching or sitting with a coloring book. What a nice addition to your back porch.

  14. Great job! I love the engineering you guys figured out to make the seats. Very smart. I like this way better than the 2 sided picnic tables. A circular seating area encourages conversation you know. You've sparked an idea. I can see I have a new project to add to my already long list. Thanks for sharing.
